Mic Ashton Profile

The “Love Bomb” Box of Kindness

Some people walk through life leaving a quiet trail of goodness behind them wherever they go. Mic is one of those people. She’s the kind of person whose kindness isn’t something she switches on when it’s convenient, it’s something she lives and breathes. While most of us wake up thinking about our to-do lists, Mic wakes up thinking about what she can give. How she can lift someone’s spirits. Who might need a moment of joy, comfort, or connection. Her heart seems permanently tuned to the needs of those around her.

It was this natural instinct to care, paired with her creativity, that sparked the beginning of her B52 Challenge. At the start of 2025, Mic made a quiet commitment to herself, to give away ONE ‘Love Bomb’ box to a complete stranger, every single week for an entire year. Not because she wanted attention, admiration, or applause. But simply because she believes in the power of small, meaningful gestures, the type that have the ability to reach someone on a human level and remind them they matter.

Each “Love Bomb” box is its own little world of warmth and intention. Mic hand-selects the items, thinking deeply about how they will make someone feel.  There are items that soothe, uplift, comfort, or spark a smile. Perhaps it’s something soft to bring calm on a stressful day, something sweet to spark joy, or something thoughtful that says, “You’re seen.” Every box is crafted with care, wrapped in love, and infused with the hope that it will land in the hands of someone who needs it most.

And you might wonder, how does Mic choose the lucky recipient each week? That’s easy, she simply follows her heart. She pays attention. She notices the small things, the tired eyes of a shop assistant, the quiet resilience of someone standing alone, the ripple of kindness she sees in a stranger. Her intuition has a remarkable way of guiding her to the right person at the right moment. Time and time again, her “Love Bombs” have landed exactly where they were meant to.

People like Mic remind us what true generosity looks like. They remind us that kindness is not only alive in Australia, it’s thriving. And sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that shine the brightest.

If you know someone like Mic, someone whose everyday actions make the world softer, warmer, and more hopeful you can nominate them for the chance to win $50,000 and be crowned Australia’s Kindest Person. It’s one way to honour the quiet heroes among us, the ones who give not for recognition, but simply because it’s who they are.
