Competition Terms & Conditions

Australia’s Kindest Person celebrates individuals who demonstrate extraordinary compassion, generosity and kindness in their communities.

1. Promoter / Organiser

The promoter of this competition (“Competition”) is HumanKind Media Ltd (ABN: 49 665 879 229), a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

2. Name of Competition

The competition is called Australia’s Kindest Person 2026 (“Competition”).

3. Agreement to Terms

By entering this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and by any decisions of the Promoter, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition.

4. Eligibility / Who Can Enter

4.1 Entry is open to individuals who are legal residents of Australia and 18 years or older at the time of entry.

4.2 Individuals under 18 years of age may still be nominated, provided that the nomination includes the contact details of a parent or legal guardian.

4.3 Employees, officers, contractors, agents and immediate family members (including spouse, parent, child or sibling) of the Promoter or organisations associated with the administration of this Competition are not eligible to enter.

4.4 The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of identity, age and residency to verify eligibility. Failure to provide suitable proof may result in disqualification.

5. Entry Method / How to Enter

5.1 Entry to the Competition is free of charge.

5.2 Entries must be submitted through the official online nomination form at: www.australiaskindestperson.com.au

5.3 To enter, the nominator must provide:

• Their full name, email address and phone number

• The nominee’s full name and contact details

• A written story (maximum 500 words) describing why the nominee deserves the title of Australia’s Kindest Person

Entrants are encouraged to include specific examples of acts of kindness, community impact or inspiring actions.

5.4 Only one (1) nomination per nominee per nominator is permitted unless otherwise stated by the Promoter.

5.5 All valid entries will be assessed and fifteen (15) finalists will be selected.

Finalists will be placed into the following categories:

• Community Kindness

• Quiet Kindness

• Kindness in Leadership

• Youth Kindness

• Courageous Kindness

Three (3) finalists will be selected in each category.

Each category will have one winner who will receive a $2,000 cash prize and remain eligible for the overall Australia’s Kindest Person award.

5.6 Late, incomplete, fraudulent or ineligible entries will not be accepted.

6. Competition Period / Key Dates

6.1 Competition entries open 22 October 2025.

6.2 Entries close 30 June 2026.

6.3 The overall winner will be announced on 13 November 2026 (World Kindness Day).

6.4 The Promoter reserves the right to extend the entry period if required.

7. Prize Pool & Value

7.1 The total prize pool for the Competition is AUD $50,000, comprising two components.

  • Grand Prize AUD $25,000 awarded to the overall winner of Australia’s Kindest Person 2026.

  • Giving Prize AUD $25,000 to be donated to a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation nominated by the winner and approved by the Promoter.

The donation will be paid directly by the Promoter to the approved charity.

7.2 Category Prizes

Five (5) category winners will each receive AUD $2,000.

These winners remain eligible for the overall Australia’s Kindest Person award.

7.3 Prize Substitution

If any advertised prize becomes unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal or greater value.

7.4 Taxes & Expenses

Any tax obligations or additional costs associated with receiving or using the prize are the responsibility of the winner unless otherwise stated.

8. Charity Approval (Giving Prize)

8.1 The $25,000 Giving Prize must be donated to a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation operating in Australia.

8.2 The Promoter may maintain a list of pre-approved charities that align with the values of HumanKind Media.

8.3 The winner may nominate their preferred charity, however the Promoter reserves the right to approve or decline any nominated charity.

8.4 A nominated charity may be declined if it:

• is not properly registered

• does not meet regulatory standards

• does not align with the mission or values of HumanKind Media.

8.5 If a nominated charity is not approved, the winner may nominate an alternative or choose from the Approved Charities List.

8.6 If the winner does not nominate a charity within 30 days, the Promoter may select a charity from the Approved Charities List.

9. Judging Process

9.1 This Competition is a skill-based competition. Chance plays no part in determining the winners.

9.2 All valid entries will be reviewed by a judging panel appointed by the Promoter.

9.3 Judging will involve a multi-stage process and scoring across several judges to ensure fairness.

9.4 Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

Authenticity – genuine acts of kindness

Impact – positive influence on individuals or communities

Inspiration – ability to inspire others

Clarity – clear explanation of the story and its outcomes

9.5 The Promoter’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

9.6 The Promoter reserves the right not to award a prize if no entry meets the judging criteria.

9.7 The Promoter may withdraw finalist status or revoke an award if information provided is found to be false, misleading, or inconsistent with the values of the Competition.

10. Notification & Publication

10.1 Finalists will be notified via email, telephone or other direct contact.

10.2 Winners will be announced at the Australia’s Kindness Awards Gala Event on 13 November 2026 (World Kindness Day).

10.3 Finalists will be invited to participate in interviews and filming for the production of 3–5 minute documentary-style videos telling their stories.

10.4 Finalists and winners may be featured on:

• the Competition website

• social media channels

• promotional campaigns

• documentary or media productions.

10.5 By entering the Competition, entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, voice, image and story for promotional, documentary or publicity purposes without additional compensation, unless required by law.

10.6 Finalists are expected to attend the awards event. Travel or accommodation costs may not be covered unless stated by the Promoter.

10.7 If a finalist is unable or unwilling to participate in filming or attend the event, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternate finalist.

11. Intellectual Property

Entrants warrant that all material submitted is original and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

By entering the Competition, entrants grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, edit, publish and distribute their entry, including written stories and related materials, for promotional, editorial, documentary and marketing purposes related to the Competition and the work of HumanKind Media.

12. Nomination Responsibility

The person submitting the nomination warrants that the information provided is true and accurate to the best of their knowledge and does not contain defamatory, misleading or harmful statements about any person.

The Promoter reserves the right to verify information contained within any entry.

13. Liability & Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter and its associated agencies exclude all liability for any loss, damage or injury suffered as a result of participating in the Competition or accepting a prize.

The Promoter is not responsible for technical issues, lost entries, or network disruptions that may affect participation.

Entrants agree to release and indemnify the Promoter from any claims arising from participation in the Competition except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

14. Privacy & Data Use

Personal information collected as part of the Competition will be used for the purposes of administering the Competition, contacting entrants and promoting the initiative.

Information may be shared with partners or service providers involved in delivering the Competition.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy.

Entrants may request access to or correction of their personal information.

15. Disqualification

The Promoter may disqualify any entrant who:

• tampers with the entry process

• provides false or misleading information

• breaches these Terms & Conditions

• engages in conduct that may bring the Competition into disrepute.

16. Changes, Cancellation or Extension

The Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, cancel or extend the Competition where necessary, subject to applicable laws.

Any updates will be communicated via the Competition website or official channels.

17. Force Majeure

The Promoter will not be liable for delays or failure to conduct the Competition due to circumstances beyond its control, including natural disasters, public health events, government restrictions, technical failures or venue cancellations.

18. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and entrants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.

19. Interpretation

In these Terms & Conditions:

Promoter means HumanKind Media Ltd

Entrant means a person who submits a valid entry

Prize includes all elements described in Clause 7

If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

20. Terms Updates

HumanKind Media Ltd reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions during the Competition period.
