About Australia’s
Kindest Person

What is Australia's Kindest Person?

Australia’s Kindest Person is more than a competition. It’s a national celebration of generosity, compassion, and everyday acts that make our country stronger.
Created by HumanKind, this campaign is part of our mission to restore faith in humanity by telling the stories that need to be told. Because when kindness takes centre stage, it inspires us all.

About Your Hosts

Angela and Dave aren’t just presenters—they’re fellow travellers on this kindness journey, and your guides through the inspiring stories of everyday Aussies making a difference.
Angela Williams

Williams

Angela Williams is the Founder of Humankind Media.  A charity she started with one purpose – to restore faith in the kindness of humanity.

She first discovered the power kindness has to unite, heal and restore while helping women escape prostitution and addiction.  Seeing first hand that the simplest acts of kindness can transform lives and connect people from completely different worlds.
Now based on the Sunshine Coast, Angela leads HumanKind with the goal to make kindness the most celebrated story in our media. She created Australia’s Kindest Person to shine a light on the quiet heroes among us the everyday Australians who give without fanfare and who exemplify what it means to be Australian.

Angela believes that in a world facing division, loneliness, and uncertainty, what humanity needs most is more kindness. When we choose kindness, we don’t just change someone’s day we change the future.

Dave Matthews

Matthews

Dave Matthews leads HumanKind, a media movement dedicated to restoring faith in humanity through kindness. In 2025, he will spearhead the national rollout of Australia’s Kindest Person – a landmark campaign celebrating connection and generosity across the country. HumanKind’s projects, from TV integrations to grassroots storytelling, are rapidly building one of Australia’s most ambitious kindness-driven platforms. A creative force and gifted storyteller, Dave has spent more than 20 years in Australian radio and media. After two decades as an executive producer and breakfast presenter, he made the bold leap from commercial radio to launch Podspot, a podcast strategy and production company helping brands tell purposeful stories.
He is also the creator of Brushy – Australia’s favourite kids’ toothbrushing podcast – and cast on Budget Battlers (9Network), a feel-good renovation series that transforms homes and lives with creativity, community, and care. His trademark mix of humour, empathy, and ingenuity makes him the perfect fit for a show that proves big impact is possible on even the tightest budget. Beyond the studio, Dave lives with his wife Tahlia and their three children on a lively mini-farm on the Sunshine Coast, complete with cows, ducks, chickens, a mini groodle, a ragdoll cat, and a school of fish. Equal parts sitcom and sanctuary, this life at home fuels his creativity and storytelling.
Whether through podcasts, campaigns, or community initiatives, Dave’s work blends humour, heart, and humanity. His projects have been featured across TV, radio, and online media, and his mission remains clear: to use creativity with purpose and prove that kindness is still worth believing in.

Kindness changes
everything.

Every day, Australians are making a difference, big or small. Australia’s Kindest Person celebrates these moments and shines a light on the everyday heroes who remind us what community really means.

HumanKind’s Mission.

We exist to spotlight kindness, and spark more of it. Through stories, community, and action, we help Australians see the good that’s already here and join in.
